1/26: Northfield MN to Olney IL

I know, huge ice storm tomorrow. But delivery isn't until Monday, so I will be safely parked Sunday! Good, I needed a 34 hour restart (and time to wash laundry)!

1/21: Chehalis WA - Jackson WI

Effectively Seattle to Milwaukee.

A very nice 2K mile run!  Through arguably the coldest part of the country in the coldest part of winter, yippee.  Can you feel my excitement there?  Currently routed via I-90, maybe it will be a couple degrees warmer than I-94? Much as I'd like to stop in Minneapolis, A: I won't have time and B: I won't want to get out of my warm truck!  Maybe next week ya'll will have your January thaw, and I can swing through then?

I am looking forward to getting out of the West Coast fog though.  That's one of the fun parts of this gig - I can enjoy the weather, or I can know I'll be leaving it soon!  Pity I couldn't take that run back to down Tracy, CA though - too heavy for my particular truck.

1/17/13: Tracy CA - Tacoma WA

2013 update

New year, new life?  Something like that.

For those I haven't talked to, I am driving long-distance truck now and LOVING it!  Let's see, I get to live in a tiny house (sleeper cab), wander around the country staring at the landscape, I don't have to deal with coworkers, I get lots of alone/introvert time, and they PAY me for this?!

It truly is a lifestyle, and I can see where most people would not be happy wandering around, little control over their next destination, far from friends and family, living in a space the size of a reach-in closet with no real kitchen and shared truck-stop bathrooms.  But then I am so unlike most people! [grin]

So far I've been all across the I-10 corridor, large parts of I-40, and just recently doing some runs up into Washington/Idaho.  I'll admit, I've grown out of winter and would prefer to stay south, but my larger need is to simply keep moving.

I've had some requests to keep people posted on my whereabouts (mostly to make sure I'm still in one piece I suspect), so I'm going to try to post my trips.  We'll see how well I do, I make no promises!  After all, I thought I was going to go back to writing last summer, and that didn't happen!

Safe journeys!

On the move again

It feels good to be on the move again.

My apologies, I had said I would write and haven't. No muse. But it's been an interesting summer of exploring various parts of Washington. Nope, did not end up backpacking! Something about best laid plans... grin.

I've been based out of Olympia the last couple weeks. Headed to Lewiston via Seattle and Spokane now. After that, who knows! But I seem to be happiest when wandering, so that is what I shall continue to do.

I was introduced to sailing on the Puget Sound - it's very likely I will explore more aquatic wandering in the future. Thought of the Mediterranean keep floating through my mind!

Walkabout day 13

I'm not dead yet!  Probably because I unexpectedly ended up couch surfing during this impressive heat wave.  I've been in Walla Walla WA the past several days.  Enjoying exploring a new town, as always, but about ready to head back into the woods.  I have an offer for a ride next Sunday, or I could catch a couple buses before then.  I expect my dithering will end up with the ride [grin].

Ironically, I'm making a loop and heading back nearly to where I started!  I'll be north of the Spokane area for a bit.  A week, a month, who knows.  But I am hoping to spend at least a little time in town visiting folks.  The only real thing on my agenda is Minnesota sometime in October!  I'll be a relief driver for a jaunt down to Texas, specific dates yet to be determined.

In the meantime, be safe ya'll, but not so safe you don't follow your dreams!
